| Unfortunately, a project coordinator sometimes has to communicate the worst, which in this case has come over the CENSOR community.
Our PhD student Mario Villegas from Chile (Univ. Arturo Prat, Iquique) passed away in his flat in Iquique on Saturday 8th of March. Mario died from a heart attack at very young age, indeed. Mario represented a generation of young researchers all our hopes are based on.
He was working on the characterization of kelp beds and the associated fish and invertebrate fauna and had just stared an in situ experiment to analyze the response of the rockfish assemblages to modifications in habitat structure. He had started publishing his early thesis results recently.
Mario was a very enthusiastic and driven young fellow; an optimist by nature and good to have around.
It will be difficult to accepting that he won't cross our paths anymore both from a very personal and academic point and view, and his death is a great loss to the CENSOR community.
